# HDMI Not Working

## Quick Answer

HDMI issues are very common and usually caused by cable problems, wrong TV input, or resolution settings rather than hardware failure.

Please note: This guide is provided for informational purposes only. Any steps you choose to follow are at your own discretion and risk. If you're unsure, we recommend booking a professional diagnosis.

## Quick Checks

Try these fast checks first — they solve most cases.

1. Check the TV input

Ensure the TV is set to the correct HDMI input.

2. Try a different HDMI cable

Cables are the most common point of failure.

3. Try a different HDMI port

Use another HDMI port on the TV.

4. Restart the console

    Power cycle the console.

5. Boot in safe mode

PS: hold power 7 sec for safe mode. Xbox: hold bind + eject + power.

## Guided Troubleshooting

Answer these questions to narrow down the issue.

Does the TV show 'No Signal'?

YesNo

Does a different HDMI cable fix it?

YesNo

## Possible Causes

HDMI cable failure

Very Common

HDMI cables can fail, especially cheap ones.

Wrong TV input

Common

TV is on the wrong HDMI input.

Resolution mismatch

Moderate

Console output resolution not supported by TV.

HDMI port damage

Less Common

The console's HDMI port may be physically damaged.

If the cause requires professional attention, see [Gaming Console hdmi issue repair options](/repair/console/hdmi-issue).

## Self-Fix Instructions

Safe steps you can try at home.

1. ### Fix HDMI output

1\. Check TV is on correct HDMI input. 2. Try a different HDMI cable. 3. Try a different HDMI port on the TV. 4. Power cycle the console. 5. Boot in safe mode and change resolution to 720p.

## Safety Warnings

- Do not force an HDMI cable into the port — bent pins inside the port require professional repair.

If your console has no picture over HDMI, first confirm the television is on the correct input, try a known-working HDMI cable, test another HDMI port on the TV, and restart the console. If there is still no output, or the console port is visibly damaged, arrange an inspection.

## Rule out the external connection first

1. 01 Confirm the television is set to the HDMI input the console is connected to.
2. 02 Try a different HDMI cable that is known to work with another device.
3. 03 Move the cable to another HDMI input on the television.
4. 04 Power-cycle the console and television, then test again.
5. 05 If the port looks bent, loose, or damaged, stop inserting or forcing the cable.

## When the console itself becomes the likely source

A single failed cable or TV input can look exactly like a console fault, which is why those checks come first. If the console still produces no picture across known-working cables and different television inputs, the problem may be inside the console or at its HDMI connection. At that point, inspection is more useful than repeatedly reconnecting the cable.

Do not force the HDMI connector

If the HDMI plug does not enter normally, or the socket has bent or displaced parts, do not force it. Further pressure can worsen physical port damage.
